Checking components and wiring

HINT: If the cable and the combined instrument panel are fault free the voltage between terminals 1 and 2 on the outside temperature sensor connector should be approximately 5 V.

Check outside temperature sensor connector for Contact resistance and oxidation .

Check the signal cable between the outside temperature gauge terminal 1 and the combined instrument panel terminal A19 (#A19) for a short-circuit to voltage according to Short-circuit to supply voltage. Permanent faults , and an open-circuit according to Open-circuit, permanent faults .

Check the ground lead between the outside temperature gauge terminal 2 and the combined instrument panel terminal A12 (#A12) for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-circuit to supply voltage. Permanent faults , and an open-circuit according to Open-circuit, permanent faults .

Remedy as necessary.
