Installation of steering wheel air bag module

Ignition off and disconnect the battery negative lead

WARNING:

The battery must not be connected while removing or installing the steering wheel air bag module.

Remove the special tools

Disconnect the special tool 9988695 .

WARNING:

Never use an ohmmeter or any other charged measuring instrument on a disconnected, undeployed air bag module. There is a risk of deploying the air bag module.

Ignition in position I

Turn ignition key to position I to unlock steering lock.

Install:

the lower part of the steering wheel (1).
connect the ignition wire to the module (2).
position the module in the steering wheel (3). Make sure that the ignition wire is free and not trapped.

Installing steering wheel screws

Screw in the module starting at the back, 2 screws Torx 30 are in the sunken opening in the steering wheel. Turn the steering wheel to get to the screws. Torque setting = 10 Nm / 7.4 ft lb .

CAUTION:

Tighten the right hand screw first. This is important for ensuring the function of the horn.
