Fault Code 128

Conditions For Fault Code - If voltage in wiring harness is high for over 40 seconds, DTC 128 is stored.

Fault Symptom - None, except illumination of SRS warning light.

Fault Source - There is a short to supply voltage in wiring harness or connector between instrument cluster and sensor module.

Corrective Action

1) Turn ignition switch to position II. If warning light is on, there is a short to supply voltage in wiring harness between SRS sensor module and instrument cluster 5/1 connector "B" terminal 3. If warning light is not on, SRS warning light bulb is defective or there is a short to supply voltage in wiring harness between SRS sensor module and instrument cluster 5/1 connector "B" terminal No. 3.

2) Turn ignition off and disconnect negative battery wiring harness. Remove left soundproofing panel and knee bolster. Remove connector "E" from connector 24/1. See Figure. Disconnect battery positive lead. Turn ignition switch to position II. Measure resistance between connector "E" terminal No. 11 and instrument cluster 5/1 connector "B" terminal No. 3. If resistance about 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not about 1000 ohms, replace wiring harness between connector 24/1E terminal No. 11 and instrument cluster 5/1 connector "B" terminal No. 3.

3) Turn ignition off. Remove SRS sensor module connector. Turn ignition switch to position II. Measure resistance between battery positive lead and connector 24/1 "E" terminal No. 11. See Figure. If resistance is infinity, replace sensor module. See SENSOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Ensure proper system operation. Perform SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
