Sensor Module
Removal
1) Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Disable system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
2) Sensor module is located under center console. Remove cigarette lighter compartment. Remove Data Link Connector (DLC) cover. Disconnect connectors from lighter socket and bulb holder. Disconnect DLC connector and press out connector through cigarette lighter compartment.
3) Disconnect connectors at front of center console. See Fig 1. Remove center console mounting screws, apply handbrake and shift transmission into Neutral. Remove center console. Remove 3 Torx screws and lift up sensor module. Disconnect connector. Remove sensor module. See Fig 2.
Installation
1) To install, reverse removal procedure. Install sensor module using original bolts. Ground terminal is secured by one of the mounting bolt Ensure ground terminal is not damaged when tightening bolts. Tighten all bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure all SRS connectors are connected.
2) Turn ignition switch to ON position and connect negative battery cable. Check SRS warning light to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . If fault code exists after replacing sensor module, clear codes and perform SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK again. If SRS warning light still indicates a malfunction, enter self-diagnostics and retrieve fault codes. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM .
