Gear Oil, Checking Level

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

NOTE:

The bevel box is attached to the side of the transmission and has it own oil system.

Refer to the appropriate Electronic Parts Information for the gear oil specification.

Requirements

-- Lift the vehicle, all four mounts from lifting platform at the same height.

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit:SMN372500  underneath.

-- Remove the oil filler hole plug -1-.

Replace the oil filler plug after removing.

Oil level is correct if bevel box is filled with oil as far as bottom edge of oil fill hole.

NOTE:

Carefully remove leaking oil from the bevel box.

Ignore -item 2-.

-- Add gear oil if necessary. Refer to GEAR OIL, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Install the new oil filler plug -1-.

-- Tighten the bolt to the tightening specification. Refer to Figure.
