Instrument Panel, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Move the front seats as far back as possible.

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Remove the Front Passenger Airbag Unit -NX3-. Refer to Front Passenger Airbag Unit -NX3-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the steering wheel. Refer to STEERING WHEEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the steering column switch. Refer to STEERING COLUMN SWITCH MODULE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the instrument cluster trim. Refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER -KX2-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Front Information Display Control Head -J685-. Refer to FRONT INFORMATION DISPLAY CONTROL HEAD -J685- KNOBS, REPLACING .

-- Driver Side Instrument Panel Cover, Removing and Installing. Refer to DRIVER SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the center console. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the connector for the multimedia device connection. Refer to EXTERNAL MULTIMEDIA DEVICE CONNECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Rotary Light Switch -EX1-. Refer to ROTARY LIGHT SWITCH -EX1-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the glove compartment. Refer to GLOVE COMPARTMENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the instrument panel cover on the driver side. Refer to DRIVER SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the A-pillar gap cover. Refer to A-PILLAR GAP COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -2-.

-- Remove the footwell cover on the driver side -1-.

-- Remove the A-pillar trim panels. Refer to A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- On vehicles with Center Speaker -R208-, remove the speaker trim. Refer to SPEAKER TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -2-.

-- Pull the Center Speaker -R208- -1- upward out of the instrument panel until the connector is accessible.

-- Release and disconnect the connector from the Center Speaker -R208- -1-.

-- Remove the Center Speaker -R208- -1-.

-- Using a suitable scraper -1- carefully pry out the lower cover -2- -arrows A-.

-- Remove the cover by hand -arrow B-.

-- Remove the A/C display control head. Refer to DISPLAY CONTROL HEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect and unclip the connectors.

-- Disconnect the connector for the front passenger airbag and if equipped for the right and left side temperature sensor.

-- Remove the screw -2- for securing the instrument panel -1- on the crossmember.

-- On the left side remove the bolts -3- for securing the instrument panel -1-.

-- On the right side remove the bolts -4- for the instrument panel mount -1-.

-- Remove the bolt -2- for securing the instrument panel -1-.

-- Remove the bolt -3- for securing the instrument panel -1-.

-- Remove the four bolts -4- for securing the instrument panel -1- on the center crossmember.

-- Remove the bolt -2- for securing the instrument panel -1-.

-- Remove the bolts -3-.

-- Remove the deformation element -4-.

-- Remove the instrument panel -1- from the three mounts -2- in the windshield transition area.

NOTE:

A second technician is needed to remove the instrument panel.

-- Remove the instrument panel -1- from the instrument panel crossmember -2-.

-- Disconnect the connector and free up the wiring harness from the instrument panel.

-- Carefully remove the instrument panel from the vehicle interior and lay it on a soft surface.
