Hydraulic System, Post-Bleeding

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Brake Filling and Bleeding Equipment: VAS6860
- Brake Bleeding Tool Set: VAS6564
Conditions
- If the brake pedal travel is too long or a "soft brake pedal" is apparent, then perform the post-bleeding.
- The help of a second technician is necessary for the following procedure.
-- Connect the Brake Filling and Bleeding Equipment: VAS6860US .
-- Depress the brake pedal forcefully and hold.
-- Open the bleeder valve on the brake caliper.
-- Press the brake pedal down until it stops.
-- Close the bleeder valve with the pedal depressed.
-- Release the brake pedal slowly.
Conditions
- This bleeding procedure must be performed five times per brake caliper / brake cylinder in the following sequence.
- Right Front Brake Caliper
- Left Front Brake Caliper
- Rear Left Brake Cylinder
- Rear Right Brake Cylinder
Conditions
- The bleeder hose must fit tightly on the bleeder valve so that no air can get into the brake system.
-- With the bleeder bottle hose attached, leave the brake caliper/brake cylinder bleeder valve open long enough so that the brake fluid flows out free of bubbles.
A road test must be performed after bleeding. During this, at least one ABS control must be performed.
