Spreader device for the rear control arm, preparing:
-- Install the threaded spindle -1- from the Spring Tensioning System - Spreader Device: VAS 6274/8 into the plate with plastic support -2- from the Spring Tensioning System - Spreader Device: VAS 6274/8 .
-- Screw the Supplementary Kit - Support Plate: VAS 6274/15-8 -A- on the threaded spindle -1-.
-- Screw in the handle bar from the Spring Tensioning System - Spreader Device: VAS 6274/8 -C-.
Conditions
- Side of the vehicle must be kept in mind:
Continuation for all vehicles
-- Position the support plate -A- at the longitudinal member -1-.
-- Position the support plate -B- on the front upper control arm -2-.
-- Above the handle bar -C-, align the tools in between the rear upper control arm -2- and the longitudinal member -1-.
-- Turn the threaded spindle until the support plates fit closely.
-- Slide the locking mechanism -2- in the -direction of the arrow-.
-- Secure the anti-twist mechanism -4- to the Thrust Plates with Slide Lock: VAS 6274/16-2 -1- using bolts -3-.
Conditions
- Tighten the bolts -3- to 10 Nm.
-- Insert the Thrust Plates with Slide Lock: VAS 6274/16-2 -F- into the bottom of the spring -1-.
Conditions
- Plastic support must face downward
-- Turn the thrust plates with slide lock -F- upward at the spring -1-.
-- Insert the Set - 69mm Plunger: VAS 6274/12-6 -D- into the thrust plates with slide lock -F-.
Conditions
- The markings on the plungers -D- and the thrust plate with slide lock -F- must be at an offset of 90° to each other.
-- Slide the plunger -D- through the thrust plate with slide lock -F-.
-- Turn the plunger -D- by 90°.
-- Pull the plunger -D- downward into the guides of the thrust plate with slide lock -F-.
Conditions
- The markings -arrows- must align.
-- Push the locking mechanism -1- all the way in the -direction of the arrow-. This will secure the plunger -D-.
-- Turn the thrust plate with slide lock -F- upward as far as possible on the spring coils -1-.
-- Pay attention that the plastic support contacts the spring coils -1-.
There is a risk of damaging the spindle due to missing or incorrect grease.
- Coat the front area of the spindle lightly with the molybdenum disulfide grease.
-- Apply a thin coat of molybdenum disulfide grease onto front area of the spindle -2- -1-. For an allocation, refer to Owner's Manual Spring Tensioning System VAS 6274.
-- Insert the Supplementary Kit - Threaded spindle 130 mm (SW19): VAS 6274/15-1A -E- into the spring -1- and install into the plunger -D-.
-- Insert the Thrust Plates with Wheel Bearing Housing: VAS 6274/16-1 -M- in the spring -1-.
Conditions
- Plastic support must face upward.
-- Turn the thrust plate with wheel bearing housing -M- upward onto the spring -1-.
-- Guide the spindle hex fitting -E- through the hole in the thrust plate with wheel bearing housing -M-.
-- Guide the spindle -E- with the Supplementary Kit - Socket with Ball Head (8 mm): VAS 6274/15-3 .
-- Remove the spindle -E- as far as possible.
Conditions
- The shaft without threads of the spindle -E- must be located below the thrust plate with wheel bearing housing -M-.
-- Position the Supplementary Kit - Spindle Attachment: VAS 6274/15-2A -G- at the spindle -E-.
-- Turn the thrust plate with wheel bearing housing -M- as far downward as possible at the spring -1-.
-- Turn the thrust plate with wheel bearing housing -M- upward with the spindle -E- to the spring coil.
-- Align the spindle attachment -G- into the thrust plate with wheel bearing housing -M-.
Conditions
- The spindle attachment -G- must correctly fit on the thrust plate with wheel bearing housing guide -M-.
-- Align the thrust plate with lock slide -F- and the thrust plate with wheel bearing housing -M-.
Conditions
- The arrow in the thrust plate with wheel bearing housing -M- must point in direction of travel.
Incorrectly securing the spring increases the risk of an accident.
- Connect together the anti-twist mechanism of the pressure plates using the bolts.
- Make sure that the spring is seated correctly in the pressure plates.
-- Secure the anti-twist mechanism -3- with the bracket -7- to the thrust plate with l bearing housing -M- using bolts -5-.
Conditions
- Tighten the bolts -6- to 10 Nm.
-- Connect the thrust plate with wheel bearing housing -M- and the thrust plate with slide lock -F- with the bracket -5- and the bolts -4-.
Conditions
- Tighten the bolts -4- to 10 Nm.
-- Position the Supplementary Kit - Socket with Ball Head (8 mm): VAS 6274/15-3 -K- at the spindle -E-.
-- Pay attention that the spindle attachment -G- correctly fits into the wheel bearing housing of the thrust plate with wheel bearing housing -M-.
-- Pay attention that the spring -1- correctly fits in the thrust plate with wheel bearing housing -M-.
-- Tighten the spindle -E- by hand.
