Shock Absorber, Replacing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Removing 

-- Refer to Shock Absorber, Removing and Installing  .

-- Clamp the Spring Compressor Kit - Strut Clamping Block: V.A.G 1752/20  in a vise.

-- Tighten the shock absorber in the Spring Compressor Kit - Strut Clamping Block: V.A.G 1752/20  .

-- Lift the cover -1- on the shock absorber mount -2-.

-- Position the tools from the Shock Absorber Set: T10001  as shown and loosen the shock absorber mount threaded connection.

  1. Commercially Available Ratchet
  2. Shock Absorber Set - Reversible Ratchet: T10001/11 
  3. Shock Absorber
  4. Spring Compressor Kit - Strut Clamping Block: V.A.G 1752/20 
  5. Shock Absorber Set - Socket: T10001/3 
  6. Shock Absorber Set - Retainer SW7: T10001/14 

-- Open the cable tie -5-.

-- Remove the nut -3-.

-- Remove the shock absorber mount -2- from the shock absorber -1-.

-- Remove the protective pipe -1- from the shock absorber mount -2-.

-- Remove the protective pipe -1-.

Shock absorber assembling 

-- Position the tools from Shock Absorber Set: T10001  as shown and tighten the threaded connection. At the same time counterhold using the ratchet.

  1. Shock Absorber Set - Retainer SW7: T10001/14 
  2. Commercially Available Ratchet
  3. Torque Wrench, 6-50Nm: VAG 1331A 
  4. Nut
  5. Shock Absorber Mount
  6. Piston Rod
  7. Shock Absorber Set - Socket: T10001/3 
  8. Commercially Available Ring Socket Wrench 21 mm

-- Insert the stop buffer -1- all the way into the shock absorber mount -2-.

-- Pay attention that the ring -3- is seated tightly.

-- Push the protective pipe -1- all the way on the shock absorber mount -2-.

-- Install and tighten the cable tie -3-.

Conditions

-- Install the cover -1- on the shock absorber mount -2- and pay attention it is seated tightly.
