Rear Axle, Lowering, Rear Section

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support: T10337
Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS 6931

-- Remove the rear underbody trim panel. Refer to REAR UNDERBODY TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -3- and -4- for the stabilizer bar -2- on the subframe -1-. At the same time hold the stabilizer bar.

-- Remove the stabilizer bar on the subframe and pivot it downward.

-- Remove the bolt -2- at the right rear subframe bearing -5-.

-- Move the bracket -1- with the line -3- to the side.

-- Remove the bolt -2- at the left rear subframe bearing -5-.

-- Move the bracket -1- with the line -3- to the side.

-- Attach the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support: T10337 -A- on the Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS 6931 -B-.

-- Position the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support: T10337 -A- at the subframe -1-.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of an accident when lowering or lifting the vehicle when the support and lifting tool is underneath it.

- Do not lift or lower the vehicle when the support and lifting tool is underneath.

- Do not leave the support and lifting tool under the vehicle any longer than necessary.

-- Support the subframe -1- using the Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS 6931 -B-.

-- Remove the bolts -2-.

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the wires, hoses and connections.

- Do not lower the subframe more than specified.

- When lowering pay attention that components are not damaged.

-- Lower the subframe -1- approximately 35 mm.

Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

Tightening Specifications

Refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME
Refer to WHEEL BOLTS TIGHTENING SPECIFICATION .
Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDER BODY TRIM PANELS, 55, 62 KWH , OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS, 82 KWH or OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS, 82 KWH GTX .
