Rear Axle, Lowering, Front Section
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support: T10337
- Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS 6931
-- Remove the rear underbody trim panel. Refer to REAR UNDERBODY TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Unclip the brake line -1- on the right side of the subframe -2- -arrow A- and -arrow B-.
-- Unclip the brake line -1- on the left side of the subframe -2- -arrows-.
-- Attach the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support: T10337 -A- on the Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS 6931 -B-.
-- Position the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support: T10337 -A- at the subframe -1-.
There is a risk of an accident when lowering or lifting the vehicle when the support and lifting tool is underneath it.
- Do not lift or lower the vehicle when the support and lifting tool is underneath.
- Do not leave the support and lifting tool under the vehicle any longer than necessary.
-- Support the subframe -1- using the Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS 6931 -B-.
-- Remove the bolts -2-.
Risk of damaging the wires, hoses and connections.
- Do not lower the subframe more than specified.
- When lowering pay attention that components are not damaged.
-- Lower the subframe -1- approximately 35 mm.
Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:
Vehicles with lock washers on the front bearing on the subframe
-- Make sure, that no lock washers -1- are located between the vehicle and the locating pins.
Conditions
- No lock washers -1- may be installed on the front bearing on the subframe -4- with non-ribbed surface -3-.
-- Remove the locating pins.
-- Replace the lock washer -3-.
Conditions
- The lock washers -3- must be installed on both sides of the vehicle.
-- Insert the lock washer -3- with the locking tabs in the front bearing on the subframe -2-.
-- Perform the axle alignment. Refer to Axle Alignment .
