Wheel Bearing Unit, Removing And Installing: Removing

The following information describes the removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle as an example.

Vehicles with wheel bearing screw: 

-- Loosen the outer wheel bearing screw. Refer to Wheel Bearing Screw, Loosening and Tightening  .

-- Refer to Wheel, Removing .

-- Remove the outer wheel bearing screw.

AWD Vehicles: 

-- Loosen the drive axle threaded connection. Refer to DRIVE AXLE THREADED CONNECTION, LOOSENING AND TIGHTENING  .

-- Refer to Wheel, Removing .

-- Remove the drive axle threaded connection.

-- Pry out the drive axle from the wheel bearing unit. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING  .

Continuation for all vehicles 

-- Remove the brake rotor. Refer to OVERVIEW - FRONT BRAKES .

-- Remove the bolts -2-.

-- Remove the wheel bearing unit -3- from the wheel bearing housing -1-.

-- Always set the wheel bearing -2- down on the wheel hub -1-.

-- Do not engage at the inside of the splines when lifting up the wheel bearing unit.

-- Only touch the wheel bearing unit at the outside.
