Drive Axle Threaded Connection, Loosening And Tightening: Removing

Vehicles with wheel hub cap 

-- Refer to Wheel, Removing .

-- Remove the wheel hub cap.

-- Refer to Wheel, Installing .

Continuation for all vehicles 

Conditions

-- Push the brake pedal.

CAUTION:

Danger of damage to the wheel bearing from the vehicle weight with the wheel-side threaded connection loose.

- Do not load the wheel bearing if the wheel-side wheel bearing threaded connection is loose.

- The bolt may only be loosened a maximum of 90° when the vehicle is resting on its wheels.

- Vehicles without wheel bearing threaded connection may not be moved when resting on its wheels. If a vehicle must be moved nevertheless, pay attention to the following: install the outer joint and tighten it to 120 Nm.

-- On a vehicle resting on its wheels, loosen the bolt -1- using the Socket - AF 24 mm: T10361A  a maximum 90°.

-- Raise the vehicle.

-- Remove the bolt -1-.
