Front Belt End Fitting, Removing And Installing: Removing

The front belt end fitting with Driver Seat Belt Tensioner Igniter 2 - N297- or Front Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner Igniter 2 - N298- will be called the front belt end fitting in the information that follows.

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Remove the front sill panel. Refer to Front Sill Panel, Removing and Installing .

-- Remove the rear sill panel. Refer to Rear Sill Panel, Removing and Installing .

-- Remove the B-pillar upper trim panel. Refer to B-Pillar Upper Trim Panel, Removing and Installing .

-- Remove the B-pillar lower trim panel. Refer to B-Pillar Lower Trim Panel, Removing and Installing .

-- Push the carpet near the front belt end fitting toward the center of the vehicle.

CAUTION:

Pyrotechnical components can deploy unintentionally.

Risk of injury.

- Discharge the static electricity: quickly touch the door striker.

-- Release the connector lock -2- in the -direction of the arrow- using a small screwdriver and disconnect the connector -1-.

-- Remove the nut -2-.

-- Position a screwdriver between the bracket -4- and sheet metal flange -3-.

-- Press the bracket -4- downward slightly and remove the front belt end fitting -1- inward.

-- Guide the front belt end fitting -2- out through the opening in the B-pillar upper trim panel -1-.
