Rear Flexible Disc, Removing And Installing: Removing
- A two-column workshop hoist should be used when working on the driveshaft.
- Label the position of all the parts to each other before removing them. Install in the same position otherwise the imbalance will be excessive and the bearings could get damaged causing rumbling noises.
- Do not bend the driveshaft, only store and move when fully extended.
- Do not allow the driveshaft to >>hang down<< during removal. Always support it.
- Always remove or install the driveshaft horizontally with respect to the drive flange.
The following applies only to installing the removed parts.
-- Before removing, see if there is a marking (color dot) on the flexible disc and on the flange/final drive as well as on the flange/driveshaft -arrows-. If not, mark the installed position of the flexible disc -arrows-.
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
-- Support the front section of the exhaust system using the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS 6931 .
Incorrect handling can damage the coupling.
- Do not bend the coupling more than 10°.
- Do not load the coupling.
-- Separate the exhaust system at the clamping sleeve -arrow- and remove the rear section of the exhaust system. Refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER .
Only for T-Roc 2018, T-Roc 2022, T-Roc Cabriolet 2022, and Tarek Russia 2022:
-- Remove the pendulum support bolts -1- from the transmission.
-- Press the pendulum support to the side.
-- Bolt down the Bracket:T10533/2 -A- with the Engine Support:T50015A -B-. To do this, use an M8 x 30 bolt -1-.
-- Tighten the Bracket -A- to the Bolt:T10533/4 -C- on the transmission.
-- Tighten the Engine Support -B- to the subframe, using an M8 bolt.
-- Tighten the bolts hand-tight.
Risk of damaging the decoupling element.
- When pushing into place, necessarily pay attention to the exhaust system decoupling element. It must not be stretched too far.
- Pay attention to OVERVIEW - EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM, FWD , OVERVIEW - EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM, AWD .
-- Press the engine slightly to the front, using the Engine Support:T50015A , without damaging the decoupling element of the exhaust system.
Continuation for all:
-- Remove the center tunnel heat shield under the intermediate bearing. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - HEAT SHIELD .
Continuation for all except T-Roc 2018, T-Roc 2022, T-Roc Cabriolet 2022:
-- Loosen all of the intermediate bearing bolts.
-- Remove the pendulum support. Remove the bolt -1- first and then the bolts -2- and -3-.
-- Remove the Engine Support Device - Gearbox Bracket:T10346/1 -2- with a bolt on the transmission on the front threaded connection for the pendulum support -right arrow-.
-- Secure the Engine Support: T50015A -1- with a bolt on the subframe -left arrow- and Engine Support Device - Gearbox Bracket: T10346/1 -2- as shown.
When pushing into place, pay attention to the exhaust system decoupling element. Do not stretch - risk of damage.
-- Carefully push the engine/transmission forward slightly by turning the spindle for the Engine Support:T50015A .
-- Remove the flexible disc with the vibration damper from the rear final drive -arrows-.
Only for Golf, Passat, Tiguan:
Replace the bolts after removing them.
Continuation for all except T-Roc 2018, T-Roc 2022, T-Roc Cabriolet 2022:
-- Counterhold using Counterhold - Kit - Multiple Use:T10172 when loosening and tightening the bolts.
Only for Sharan:
-- Remove the rear intermediate bearing -arrows-.
Only for T-Roc 2018, T-Roc 2022, T-Roc Cabriolet 2022, and Tarek Russia 2022:
-- Use the Adapter:T10172/5 -1- and the Counterhold Tool:T10172 -2- to loosen and tighten the bolts.
-- Remove the bolts -1- that connect the driveshaft -2- to the rear final drive.
Replace the bolts after removing them.
Continuation for all:
-- Remove the bolts -1- from the front intermediate bearing.
-- Remove the driveshaft from the final drive and lay it on the tunnel brace; place a cloth on the tunnel brace to protect the shaft.
-- When removing and installing the driveshaft, always be careful not to damage the bushing -arrow-.
-- Secure the intermediate bearing to the body with two bolts -arrows- after removing the driveshaft. This way the front flexible disc will not be unnecessarily loaded.
Remove the rear flexible disc with the vibration damper from the driveshaft.
