Rear Flexible Disc, Removing And Installing: Removing

The following applies only to installing the removed parts.

-- Before removing, see if there is a marking (color dot) on the flexible disc and on the flange/final drive as well as on the flange/driveshaft -arrows-. If not, mark the installed position of the flexible disc -arrows-.

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Support the front section of the exhaust system using the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS 6931  .

CAUTION:

Incorrect handling can damage the coupling.

- Do not bend the coupling more than 10°.

- Do not load the coupling.

-- Separate the exhaust system at the clamping sleeve -arrow- and remove the rear section of the exhaust system. Refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER .

Only for T-Roc 2018, T-Roc 2022, T-Roc Cabriolet 2022, and Tarek Russia 2022:

-- Remove the pendulum support bolts -1- from the transmission.

-- Press the pendulum support to the side.

-- Bolt down the Bracket:T10533/2  -A- with the Engine Support:T50015A  -B-. To do this, use an M8 x 30 bolt -1-.

-- Tighten the Bracket -A- to the Bolt:T10533/4  -C- on the transmission.

-- Tighten the Engine Support -B- to the subframe, using an M8 bolt.

-- Tighten the bolts hand-tight.

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the decoupling element.

-- Press the engine slightly to the front, using the Engine Support:T50015A  , without damaging the decoupling element of the exhaust system.

Continuation for all:

-- Remove the center tunnel heat shield under the intermediate bearing. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - HEAT SHIELD .

Continuation for all except T-Roc 2018, T-Roc 2022, T-Roc Cabriolet 2022:

-- Loosen all of the intermediate bearing bolts.

-- Remove the pendulum support. Remove the bolt -1- first and then the bolts -2- and -3-.

-- Remove the Engine Support Device - Gearbox Bracket:T10346/1  -2- with a bolt on the transmission on the front threaded connection for the pendulum support -right arrow-.

-- Secure the Engine Support: T50015A  -1- with a bolt on the subframe -left arrow- and Engine Support Device - Gearbox Bracket: T10346/1  -2- as shown.

NOTE:

When pushing into place, pay attention to the exhaust system decoupling element. Do not stretch - risk of damage.

-- Carefully push the engine/transmission forward slightly by turning the spindle for the Engine Support:T50015A  .

-- Remove the flexible disc with the vibration damper from the rear final drive -arrows-.

Only for Golf, Passat, Tiguan:

Replace the bolts after removing them.

Continuation for all except T-Roc 2018, T-Roc 2022, T-Roc Cabriolet 2022:

-- Counterhold using Counterhold - Kit - Multiple Use:T10172  when loosening and tightening the bolts.

Only for Sharan:

-- Remove the rear intermediate bearing -arrows-.

Only for T-Roc 2018, T-Roc 2022, T-Roc Cabriolet 2022, and Tarek Russia 2022:

-- Use the Adapter:T10172/5  -1- and the Counterhold Tool:T10172  -2- to loosen and tighten the bolts.

-- Remove the bolts -1- that connect the driveshaft -2- to the rear final drive.

Replace the bolts after removing them.

Continuation for all:

-- Remove the bolts -1- from the front intermediate bearing.

-- Remove the driveshaft from the final drive and lay it on the tunnel brace; place a cloth on the tunnel brace to protect the shaft.

-- When removing and installing the driveshaft, always be careful not to damage the bushing -arrow-.

-- Secure the intermediate bearing to the body with two bolts -arrows- after removing the driveshaft. This way the front flexible disc will not be unnecessarily loaded.

Remove the rear flexible disc with the vibration damper from the driveshaft.
