All-Wheel Drive Clutch, Removing And Installing, Generation VI: Removing

CAUTION:

Incorrect handling can damage the coupling.

- Do not bend the coupling more than 10°.

- Do not load the coupling.

-- Separate the exhaust system at the clamping sleeve -arrow- and remove the rear section of the exhaust system. Refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER .

-- Place a pipe or tire iron -3- in the front exhaust pipe -1- and lay it on the tunnel brace -2-.

-- Remove the driveshaft heat shield. Refer to DRIVESHAFT HEAT SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Only loosen the bolts -1- of the driveshaft intermediate bearing -2-, do not remove.

-- Remove the pendulum support bolts -1- from the transmission.

-- Press the pendulum support to the side.

-- Bolt down the Bracket:T10533/2 -A- with the Engine Support:T50015A -B-. To do this, use an M8 x 30 bolt -1-.

-- Tighten the bracket -A- to the Bolt:T10533/4 -C- on the transmission.

-- Secure the engine support -B- on the subframe using an M8 bolt.

-- Tighten the bolts hand-tight.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the coupling due to incorrect handling.

When pushing into place, necessarily pay attention to the exhaust system decoupling element. It must not be stretched too far.
Do not bend the coupling more than 10°.
Pay attention to OVERVIEW - EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM, FWD , OVERVIEW - EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM, AWD .

-- Press the engine slightly to the front, using the Engine Support:T50015A , without damaging the decoupling element of the exhaust system.

-- Make sure there is a marking (colored dot) on the flexible disc/driveshaft and the rear final drive flange -arrows-.

-- If the mark is not present, then label the position of the flexible disc/driveshaft to the driveshaft flange on the rear final drive.

-- Use the Adapter:T10172/5 -item 1- and the Counterhold Tool:T10172 -item 2- to loosen and tighten.

-- Remove the bolts -1- of the flexible disc with vibration damper -2- from the rear final drive.

-- When removing and installing the driveshaft, be careful not to damage the socket -1-.

CAUTION:

Leaks due to damaged seal.

- Push the driveshaft horizontally toward the rear.

-- Remove the driveshaft from the final drive and lay it on the tunnel brace; place a cloth on the tunnel brace to protect the shaft.

-- Disconnect the connector -1- for the All-Wheel Drive Control Module -J492-.

-- Unclip and free up the wiring harness -3- of the All-Wheel Drive Clutch Control Module -- from the all-wheel drive clutch housing.

-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit:SMN372500 under the rear final drive.

-- Remove the drain plug -arrow- and drain the oil from the all-wheel drive clutch completely.

-- Install the new drain plug -arrow- with new sealing ring and tighten.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the all-wheel drive clutch -1- from the rear final drive.
