Catalytic Converter, Removing And Installing: Removing

Requirement

• The catalytic converter is removed with the front exhaust pipe.

The front exhaust pipe catalytic converter will be called catalytic converter in the information that follows.

-- Engine Cover, Removing and Installing. Refer to Engine Cover, Removing and Installing .

-- Disconnect the connector -2- and free it up.

-- Mark the clamp installation position.

-- Loosen the clamp -1- and place it on the turbocharger.

-- Remove the Oxygen Sensor 1 After Catalytic Converter -GX7-. Refer to OXYGEN SENSOR 1 AFTER CATALYTIC CONVERTER GX7, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the rear tunnel brace -1-. Refer to TUNNEL BRACE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 3 -G495- -1-. Refer to EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, AWD , EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, FWD  .

-- Remove the Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 4 -G648- -2-. Refer to EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, AWD , EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, FWD  .

-- Remove the pressure lines -1 and 2-.

Vehicles with Front Axle Differential Lock

-- Remove the right wheel and the right wheel housing liner. Refer to FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Lower the subframe. Refer to SUBFRAME, LOWERING .

-- Remove the drive axle heat shield. Refer to DRIVE AXLE HEAT SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Continuation for All Vehicles

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- and move to the side the pressure lines.

-- Remove the bolt -2-.

Requirement

• The help of a second technician is necessary for the following procedure.

-- Support the catalytic converter.

-- Push the front clamping sleeve -1- rearward.

-- Screw out the catalytic converter.

-- Slide the screwdriver -2- into the groove -arrow- on the turbocharger and pry out the seal -1-.
