New Connecting Rod, Separating

If a Connecting Rod Is Not Completely Separated at the Predetermined Breaking Point:

-- Mark which cylinder the connecting rod is allocated to. Refer to OVERVIEW - PISTONS AND CONNECTING ROD  .

CAUTION:

Risk of damage to the connecting rod by too much pressure.

- Use protective backings.

-- Fix the connecting rod -1- into the vise below the -line-.

-- Loosen the bolts -2- five turns.

-- Hit the connecting rod bearing cap -1- in direction of -arrow- using a commercially available plastic mallet, until the connecting rod bearing cap and the connecting rod are separated.

Tip

Connecting rod bearing caps separated with the separation procedure (cracking) will only fit in one position and only on the responding connecting rod.
