Battery, Disconnecting And Connecting, Engine Compartment Battery
Disconnecting
-- Turn off the ignition and all electrical equipment.
-- Move the ignition key outside of the vehicle to prevent switching on the ignition unintentionally.
-- Open the negative terminal cover -1-.
-- Loosen the nut -2- several turns.
-- Remove the battery ground cable terminal clamp -3- from the battery terminal.
Connecting
Pay attention to the following when connecting the battery:
-- Disconnect the connector -4-.
-- Connect the battery ground cable terminal clamp -3- to the battery negative terminal "-" by hand.
-- Tighten the nut -2-
-- Connect the connector -4-.
-- Switch the ignition on.
-- Check time and adjust if necessary.
-- Open and close the door windows all the way.
-- Then, with the windows closed, pull the power window switch until the relay audibly switches.
-- Check the convenience closing from the window regulator motors.
The door must close on an activated convenience switch without holding the window regulator button.
These procedures are necessary so that the ESP indicator lamp turns off.
-- Establish drive ready mode.
-- Engage the position.
-- Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and to the right.
-- Read out the DTC memory using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
The ESP indicator light must go out.
