Clutch Manufacturers, Differentiating

Only Vehicles with 2.0L Turbo Diesel Engine

Either a "Sachs" or a "LuK" clutch may be installed.

The clutch manufacturer can be determined as follows with the transmission installed:

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Remove the noise insulation from the oil pan, if necessary.

There are several cut-outs -arrows- between the engine -A- and the transmission -B- at the bottom of the engine oil pan.

-- Check the outer contour of the flywheel through these openings.

-- The outer contour of the flywheel can also be inspected by removing -arrows- the small cover plate -A-, if equipped.

Round Outer Contour -arrows- = Clutch Made by "Sachs" = -A-

Squared Outer Contour -arrows 1- and a Circulated Depression -arrow 2- = Clutch "LuK" = -B-.
