Bonding Rear Spoiler and Rear Lid, Preparing

When Reusing the Undamaged Rear Lid and/or the Undamaged Rear Spoiler

-- Replace the old double-sided tape on the left and right rear spoiler -2- with new double-sided tape. Refer to the parts information.

-- Remove any adhesive still on the two-sided adhesive tape with :VAS6349 .

-- If the sealing bands -3- are damaged, replace them as well.

-- Shortly before installing the section cut back the remaining adhesive sealant approximately 2 mm, without damaging the paint.

It is not necessary to clean the cutting surfaces.

NOTE:

The remaining material acts as a base for the new adhesive sealant to be applied.

If a spoiler with the >>old<< adhesive sealant routing is installed then the corresponding area for the >>new<< adhesive routing must be prepared. Refer to Adhesive Routing Change .

When Using a New Rear Lid

-- Place the rear spoiler on the rear lid and mark the installation position, then remove the rear spoiler again.

-- Clean the marked adhesive surfaces with cleaning solution. Refer to the parts information.

WARNING:

Never apply primer beyond the markings. If the primer is applied beyond the markings, it can be removed with a lint-free cloth and mineral spirits within the first minute. It cannot be removed any later than that because of the bonding properties of the primer.

-- Prime the marked adhesive surface with primer. Refer to the parts information.

Drying time 10 minutes
