Hood, Adjusting: Notes

NOTE:

The vehicle must be on all four wheels when adjusting the hood.

The left and right adjusting buffers -2- are not meant for adjusting. Their function is to stabilize and to cushion the hood.

The hood is properly adjusted when there is an overall even gap dimension when closed, it is not too far inward or outward and contours align.

The hood must engage into the latch without using much force.

Do not remove the bolts -4-. Only loosen them.

-- Remove the striker -1-. Refer to STRIKER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Loosen, but do not remove, the left and right bolts -4- on the hood hinge -5- and then align the hood between the fenders.

-- Make sure the gap dimensions are even. Refer to => 00 Body Gap Dimensions; Body Front

-- Apply corrosion protection to the hinges -5- and the bolts -4-.

-- Turn the adjusting buffer -2- in direction of -arrows- to adjust.

-- After adjusting the hood, the catch -1- can be reinstalled and adjusted. Refer to Striker, Adjusting .

-- The hood in the front area can be adjusted to the height of the fenders using the latch -3-. Refer to Latch, Adjusting .
