SUBFRAME Without Steering Gear, Removing And Installing: Installing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Always make sure the intermediate plate -1- is installed between the subframe -2- and the body.

Insert the long side of the intermediate plate -1- so that it is perpendicular to the direction of travel. The tabs -arrows- must lock into the subframe -2-.

-- Install the subframe brace -1-. Refer to SUBFRAME BRACE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the right and left underbody trim panels. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS .

Note the Tightening Sequence for the Steering Gear on Vehicles with Electro-Mechanical Steering Gear:

Thread the bolts -1, 2 and 3- on one after the other by hand.
Pre-tighten the bolts -1 and 2- one after the other to 10 Nm.
Tighten the bolts -1, 2 and 3- one after the other to the tightening specification.

Continuation for All Vehicles

-- Tighten nuts -arrows-.

NOTE:

Tighten the nuts -arrows- in curb weight position. Refer to WHEEL BEARING IN CURB WEIGHT POSITION, LIFTING VEHICLES WITH COIL SPRING .

-- Install and tighten the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS .

-- Install the front wheels and tighten. Refer to WHEEL BOLT TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

Pendulum support bolts. Refer to ASSEMBLY MOUNT .
Underbody trim panel bolts. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY TRIM PANELS .
Noise insulation bolts. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
Exhaust system bracket to subframe. Refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER .
Clamping sleeve tightening specification. Refer to CLAMPING SLEEVE INSTALLATION POSITION .
