Lock Carrier, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:

The lock carrier is a safety related component. For this reason it cannot be serviced.

Replace the lock carrier if it is damaged.

-- Remove the left and right headlamps. Refer to HEADLAMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING (CONVERTIBLE) .

-- Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the lock carrier brace to the headlamp carrier plate from the lock carrier.

-- Disconnect the cable from the cable coupling. Refer to RELEASE CABLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bracket next to the left and right headlamps. Refer to OVERVIEW - GUIDES AND BRACKETS .

-- If the vehicle has a charge air cooler, remove the pressure hoses. Refer to CHARGE AIR COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CPLA, CPPA, CPKA, CPRA] / CHARGE AIR COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CPLA, CPPA, CPKA, CPRA] (CONVERTIBLE) .

-- Remove the foam piece -1- and tape -2- from the bumper carrier -3-.

NOTE:

The molded foam part -1- is installed only for certain markets.

-- Remove the right and left bolts -1- on the lock carrier retaining bracket -2-.

-- Only remove the bolts -1- for the lock carrier -2- on the left and right longitudinal member.

-- Instead of the bolts, install the :T10093  into the holes in the left and right longitudinal member.

Have a second technician hold the hood and support rod.

-- Remove the remaining bolts -3- for the lock carrier -2- on the left and right longitudinal members.

-- Disconnect any connectors.

-- Drain the coolant and disconnect the coolant line. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING [CPLA, CPPA, CPKA, CPRA] (CONVERTIBLE) .

-- Disconnect the refrigerant lines for the condenser. Refer to CONDENSER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING (CONVERTIBLE) .

WARNING:

Do not start the engine whenever the A/C lines and/or coolant lines are disconnected.

-- Support the hood and remove the support rod from the hood.

-- Together with a second technician, remove the :T10093  on the left and right longitudinal member -2-.

-- Lift the lock carrier out with the attachments -1-.

NOTE:

Never hang the condenser and the hydraulic fluid cooler on the lines.

Never bend the condenser lines or the hydraulic fluid lines.
