Camshaft Adjuster: Removing

-- Remove the upper toothed belt guard, refer to Removing .

-- Remove the noise insulation -1-, refer to NOISE INSULATION OVERVIEW .

CAUTION: Components could be destroyed by the toothed belt jump off.

Only rotate the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation.

-- Turn the crankshaft at the toothed belt gear bolt until the camshaft toothed belt gear is at "TDC".

Remove the camshaft as follows:

-- Disconnect cylinder 1 fuel injector connector -2-.

-- Release and remove the sealing plug -1- from the cylinder head cover by turning it to the left.

-- Secure the intake camshaft with the Locking Pin T10492, while doing so pay attention to the following:

Cylinder head cover -1- installed:

The distance -a- is approximately 1 mm.

The groove -1- on the Locking Pin T10492 must be flush with the camshaft housing -2-.

-- Remove the air filter housing, refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING .

-- Disconnect the connectors -3- and -4-. Remove the clamp from the housing.

-- Remove the bolts -2- and the housing -1-.

CAUTION: Before removing the control valve check that the small piston in the center of the control valve for ease of movement. Push with a finger on the piston and check if it can be pushed in and drives back to the end position. In the pistons are caught the control valve must be replaced. Otherwise there is the threat of engine damage.

-- Remove the control valve -2-, and remove the camshaft adjuster -1-.
