Fuel Tank, Draining With Fuel Pump Installed

Fuel Extraction Adapter VAS 5190

NOTE: If the Fuel Extraction Unit VAS 5190 has a suction hose with a mounted tip, then replace this with one that has a tip which screws on.

-- Remove the tip -1- from the fuel extraction hose for the VAS 5190.

-- Install the Fuel Extraction - Adapter 2 VAS 5190 /2 from the Fuel Extraction - Adapter Set VAS 5190 /10 on the suction hose.

-- Follow all safety precautions. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .

-- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to PARKING/AUXILIARY HEATER AND FUEL SYSTEM CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

-- Turn off the ignition.

-- Remove the supply line -B- and wipe up the draining fuel with a cleaning cloth. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, SEPARATING .

WARNING:

Fuel lines are under pressure.

Danger of personal injury to eyes and skin.

Wear protective eyewear and protective clothing in order to avoid injury and contact with the skin. Wrap a cloth around the connection before loosening hose connections. Open the connection carefully and release the pressure.

-- Connect the Fuel Extraction Unit VAS 5190 and Fuel Extraction - Adapter 3 VAS 5190 /3 to the fuel supply line.

-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- Perform the Guided Function Empty fuel tank .

-- Repeat the function if necessary.

NOTE: The fuel pump is activated.

-- Open the shut-off valve on the Fuel Extraction Unit VAS 5190 until the fuel tank is empty.

NOTE: Risk of damage/destroying the Transfer Fuel Pump -G6- when the fuel tank is empty. The Transfer Fuel Pump - G6- must not run >>dry<<.
