Auxiliary Fuel Pump -V393- Inline Electric Fuel Pump, Checking, Engine Code CJAA

Test Conditions:

Battery voltage at least 12.5 V.
The fuel filter is OK.
Fuel tank minimum ¹ /₂ full.
The ignition is off.

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Remove the fuel supply line -arrow- from the high pressure pump.

-- Insert the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit - Adapter Set - Adapter 1 VAS 6551/5-1 into the supply line -1- and secure with a clamp.

-- Connect the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit - Hose 2 VAS 6551/2 between the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit - Adapter Set - Adapter 1 VAS 6551/5-1 and the connection -A- of the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit VAS 6551.

-- Connect the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit - Adapter Set - Connection Hose 2 VAS 6551/5-2 between the connection -B- of the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit VAS 6551 and the high pressure pump -2-.

-- Secure the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit - Adapter Set - Connection Hose 2 VAS 6551/5-2 on the high pressure pump -2- with a clamp.

-- Press the On/Off button to switch on the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit VAS 6551.

-- Make sure that the drain valve -C- on the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit VAS 6551 -1- is closed.

-- The shut-off valves -A- and -B- are on the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit VAS 6551 -1-.

-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester and perform Guided Functions "check electric fuel pump(s)".

NOTE: The fuel pump now runs for 30 seconds.

-- Let the fuel pumps run until the highest fuel pressure is reached.

Specified value: minimum 3.5 bar

If the specification is not obtained:

-- Check the fuel lines inside the engine compartment for possible bends, blockages and damage.

-- Check the fuel lines inside the engine compartment for leaks.

-- Check the fuel system for leaks.

If no faults are detected:

-- check the fuel filter. Refer to FUEL FILTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

If no faults are detected:

-- Check the Transfer Fuel Pump - G6- fuel delivery rate. Refer to Transfer Fuel Pump -G6- FUEL DELIVERY RATE, CHECKING, ENGINE CODE CJAA .

If no faults are detected:

-- Replace the Auxiliary Fuel Pump -V393-. Refer to Auxiliary Fuel Pump -V393- OR Fuel Pump 2 -V277- INLINE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, ENGINE CODE CJAA .
