Brake Cable, Drum Brake: Removing

-- Loosen the wheel bolts.

-- Raise the vehicle.

-- Remove the wheel.

-- Release parking brake.

-- Reset brake. Refer to REAR DRUM BRAKE, RESETTING .

-- Remove brake drum. Refer to BRAKE DRUM .

Vehicles without Center Armrest

-- Remove the mat from the storage compartment.

-- Open access cover -1- in the center console.

-- Remove the cover -1- on the center armrest -2-.

-- Remove the nut -1- on the center armrest -2-.

-- Remove the center armrest. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Loosen the adjusting nut -1- until it is possible to disengage the brake cable -2- from the compensator bracket.

-- Use pliers to pull the brake cable -1- toward the rear -arrow-.

-- Disengage the brake cable -1- from the lever -2-.

-- Unclip the brake cable -1- from the tabs -arrows- on the bracket -2- on the rear axle.

-- Remove the brake cable from the guide -3-.

-- Remove the brake cable -1- bracket -2- on the rear axle -3-.

-- Disengage the brake cable -1- from the bracket -2- and pull it from the guide tube -3-.
