Exhaust Pipes/Mufflers, Separating, Sedan

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Body Saw V.A.G 1523 A or
Chain Pipe Cutter VAS 6254
Torque Wrench V.A.G 1331 (not illustrated)
Protective eyewear
Protective clothing

NOTE:

A separating point has been provided in the connecting pipe for removing, installing and replacing the front and rear muffler.

The separating point is marked by depressions around the circumference of the exhaust pipe.

WARNING:

To prevent injuries from metal shavings, wear protective goggles and protective clothing.

-- Cut exhaust pipe at separation point -arrow 1- for example using the Body Saw V.A.G 1523 A or Chain Pipe Cutter VAS 6254 at a right angle.

NOTE:

A 2nd technician is required to tighten the rear clamping sleeve (repair - clamping sleeve).

-- Secure the front muffler in the mounts. The front clamp remains loosely connected to pipes.

-- Align the rear muffler horizontally and hold it in this position.

-- Position the clamping sleeves with both outer markings and tighten them to 23 Nm.

-- Align the exhaust system free of tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
