Camshaft Seal, Removing And Installing: Procedure

-- Remove the toothed belt from the camshaft. Refer to TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFTS .

CAUTION:
  • The internal press piece of the :T10443  is loosened from the pressure bolt if it is turned backward too far. Then the press piece must be pushed back onto the pressure bolt.

-- Carefully turn back the threaded pin -arrow- on the :T10443  until light resistance is felt.

-- Install the :T10443  as shown, and then lock it into place with the threaded pin -A-.

-- Install the pressure bolt -B- until the shaft seal is pulled out.

-- Clean the contact and sealing surface.

NOTE:

The sealing lip of the shaft seal may not be additionally oiled or greased.

-- Place the :T10493/1  on the camshaft as shown.

-- Carefully slide the shaft seal -1- over the guide sleeve and onto the camshaft.

NOTE:

The guide sleeve remains on the camshaft as a stop while pushing the shaft seal in.

-- Press the shaft seal in as far as the stop using the :T10493/2  and :T10493/3  .

-- Install the toothed belt (adjust valve timing). Refer to TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
