Overview - Pistons And Connecting Rod: Notes

NOTE:

Oil spray jet and pressure relief valve. Refer toOil Spray Jet and Pressure Relief Valve  .

GWWA13-10925
  1. Bolts
    • 30 Nm + 90°
    • Always replace after removing.
    • Lubricate the threads and contact surface.
  2. Connecting Rod Bearing Cap
    • Note the installation position
    • Due to the separation procedure (cracking) of the connecting rod, the connecting rod bearing cap only fits in one position and only to the corresponding connecting rod.
    • Use color to identify the cylinder and connecting rod to which it belongs -B- .
    • Installed position: marks -A- face the belt pulley side
  3. Bearing Shells
    • Installation position. Refer toBearing Shell Installation Position in the Connecting Rods  .
    • Replace any worn bearing shells
    • Note the version: the upper bearing shell (to the piston) is made of wear-resistant material. How to recognize new bearing shells: there is a black line on the contact surface near the separating point
    • Check for secure fit
  4. Connecting Rod
    • With a cracked connecting rod bearing cap
    • Always replace as a set
    • Use color to identify the cylinder and connecting rod bearing cap to which it belongs -B- .
    • Axial play wear limit: 0.37 mm
    • Radial play, measuring. Refer to CONNECTING RODS, CHECKING RADIAL CLEARANCE .
    • New connecting rod, separating. Refer toNew Connecting Rod, Separating  .
    • Installation position: marks -A- face the belt pulley side.
  5. Circlip
    • Always replace after removing.
    • Quantity: 2

  8. Compression Rings
  9. Oil Scraping Ring
    • Measuring the gap. Refer toPiston Ring Gap, Measuring  .
    • Measuring side clearance. Refer to Piston Ring Height Clearance, Measuring .
    • Use piston ring pliers for removing and installing
    • Installation position: "TOP" lettering or side with lettering faces the piston crown.
    • Offset gaps by 120° on the lower compression ring
