SUBFRAME Without Steering Gear: Removing

NOTE:

Subframe is removed together with control arms.

-- Remove the lower noise insulation, refer to Description and Operation .

-- Remove the wheels.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- on left and right side of vehicle.

-- Remove the control arm from the ball joint.

-- Remove exhaust system bracket from subframe -arrows-.

-- If equipped, remove the heat shield bolts -arrows-.

-- If equipped, remove the subframe heat shield.

-- Remove coupling rod from stabilizer bar.

-- Remove the bolts -13- and then remove the pendulum support from the transmission.

-- Secure the subframe, refer to SUBFRAME, SECURING .

-- Remove the steering gear bolts -5- and -6-..

-- Remove the stabilizer bolts -7- and -8-.

-- Remove the subframe bolts -9- and -10-.

-- Lower the subframe using the Engine/Gearbox Jack VAG1383A.

-- Remove cable guide from subframe -arrow-.

-- Secure steering gear to body.
