Overview - Oil Pan/Oil Pump, Vehicles With Two-Piece Oil Pan

NOTE:
If large quantities of metal shavings or abraded material are detected during an engine repair, it may mean the crankshaft or connecting rod bearings are damaged. To prevent damage, perform the following steps after completing the repair: carefully clean the oil channels and replace the oil spray jets, the oil cooler and the oil filter.
Oil spray jet and pressure relief valve. Refer to Fig 1.
- Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-
- Removing and installing. Refer to Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

- Replace after removing.
- Splash Wall
- Oil Pan Upper Section
- Tightening Sequence and Specification. Refer to Fig 4.
- Removing and installing. Refer to OIL PAN UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Oil Pan Lower Section
- Tightening Sequence and Specification. Refer to Fig 3.
- Removing and installing. Refer to OIL PAN LOWER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Seal
- Replace after removing.
- Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-
- Removing and installing. Refer to Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Nut
- 9 Nm
- Seal
- Replace after removing.
- Oil Drain Plug
- 30 Nm
- Bolt
- Tightening Sequence and Specification. Refer to Fig 3.
- For the oil pan lower section
- Bolt
- Tightening Sequence and Specification. Refer to Fig 4.
- For the oil pan upper section
- Oil Pump
- With vacuum pump
- Removing and installing. Refer to OIL PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Alignment Sleeve
- Seal
- Replace after removing.
- Bolt
- Bolt with TORX® - internal drive 12 Nm +180°
- Bolt with hex fitting-external drive 10 Nm +180°
- Replace after removing.
Pay attention to the different threaded connections:
- Bolt
- 8 Nm +90°
- O-ring
- Replace after removing.
- Oil Intake Pipe
- Toothed Belt
- Removing. Refer to TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Cylinder Block
- O-ring
- Replace after removing.
-- Tighten the bolts in stages as follows:

| 1 | -1 to 20- | Install in a diagonal sequence all the way by hand. |
| 2 | -1 to 20- | Tighten in a diagonal sequence to 12 Nm. |
NOTE:
The three bolts -9 to 11- are specially coated with sealing paint, pay attention to the allocation when installing.

Replace the bolts.
