Engine Was Started With Incorrect Fuel
Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required
- Diesel Pressure Tester Kit :VAS6551
- Diesel Pressure Tester Kit - Adapter Set :VAS6551/5
- Trim Removal Wedge :3409
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
-- Empty the fuel tank as much as possible through the filler neck using the Fuel Extraction Unit :VAS5190 . Refer to FUEL TANK, DRAINING WHEN MORE THAN .
-- Remove the rear bench seat. Refer to REAR SEATS .
-- Unclip the sealing flange cover -1- at the tabs -arrows- using the Trim Removal Wedge :3409 .
Remember that if the battery is connected, the fuel pump will turn on when a door is opened. Fuel may leak out when the system is open.
-- Remove the fuel return line -1- from the sealing flange. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, SEPARATING .
The fuel line is under pressure.
Fuel poses a risk of injury to the eyes and skin.
Wear protective eyewear and protective clothing to avoid injury and contact with skin. Place a cleaning cloth around the connection point before loosening hose connections. Carefully open the connection point to release the pressure.
-- Connect the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit - Hose 1 :VAS6551/1 from the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit :VAS6551 to the fuel return line.
-- If necessary, lengthen the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit - Hose 1 :VAS6551/1 with the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit - Adapter Set - Adapter 1 :VAS6551/5-1 and a commercially available hose.
-- Guide the free end of the Diesel Pressure Tester Kit - Hose 1 :VAS6551/1 into a suitable container.
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Perform the Guided Function: Empty Fuel Tank .
The fuel pump is now activated.
-- Repeat this procedure as necessary until the fuel tank is completely empty.
-- Check the fuel tank for shavings.
-- Empty the fuel delivery unit reservoir.
-- Check the reservoir visually for large contaminants and shavings and on the screen.
