Overview - Pistons And Connecting Rod: Notes

NOTE:
Oil spray jet and pressure relief valve. Refer to Tightening Specification For Oil Spray Jet And Relief Valve .
- Bolts
- 30 Nm +90°
- Replace after removing.
- Lubricate the threads and contact surface.
- Connecting Rod Bearing Cap
- Note the installation position
- Due to the separation procedure (cracking) of the connecting rod, the connecting rod bearing cap only fits in one position and only to the corresponding connecting rod.
- Use color to identify the cylinder and connecting rod to which it belongs -B-.
- Installed position: marks -A- face the belt pulley side
- Bearing Shells
- Replace any worn bearing shells
- Installation position. Refer to Installed Position Of Bearing Shell .
- Note the version: the upper bearing shell (to the piston) is made of wear-resistant material. New bearing shells identifying feature: there is a black line on the running surface near the separating point
- Check for secure fit
- Connecting Rod
- Always replace as a set
- With a cracked connecting rod bearing cap
- Use color to identify the cylinder and connecting rod bearing cap to which it belongs -B-.
- Axial play wear limit: 0.37 mm
- Radial play, measuring. Refer to CONNECTING RODS, CHECKING RADIAL CLEARANCE .
- New connecting rod, separating. Refer to the 1ST figure in Clamping Connection Rod With Vise .
- Installation position: marks -A- face the belt pulley side.
- Circlip
- Replace after removing.
- Quantity: 2
- Piston Pin
- Removing and installing. Refer to PISTONS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Piston
- Replace the piston if there are cracks on the piston crown or piston shaft
- With the internal combustion engine
- Label the installation position and cylinder allocation. Refer to Piston Installed Location And Allocation, Piston To Cylinder .
- Removing and installing. Refer to PISTONS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Check piston and cylinder bore. Refer to PISTON AND CYLINDER BORE, CHECKING .
- Measure the piston projection at "TDC". Refer to PISTON PROJECTION, MEASURING AT TDC .
- Compression Rings
- Measuring the gap. Refer to Checking The Piston Ring Gap .
- Measuring side clearance. Refer to Checking The Piston Ring Groove Clearance .
- Use piston ring pliers (commercially available) for removing and installing
- Installation position: "TOP" lettering or side with lettering faces the piston crown.
- Offset gaps by 120°
- Oil Scraping Ring
- Measuring the gap. Refer to Checking The Piston Ring Gap .
- Measuring side clearance. Refer to Checking The Piston Ring Groove Clearance .
- Use piston ring pliers for removing and installing
- Installation position: "TOP" lettering or side with lettering faces the piston crown.
- Offset gaps by 120° on the lower compression ring
