Rear Side Airbag
Removal and installation is described for the right side of the vehicle. Removing and installing on the left side is identical.
Removal
Read the Safety Instructions for working with airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
-- Disconnect vehicle battery. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0A4, 02E, 09G, 02Q] [For engine(s) BRM, BGP, BPY, BGQ, CBTA, CBEA, CJAA, CBUA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation
-- Remove side upholstery with side airbag -1-. Refer to SIDE UPHOLSTERY WITH SIDE AIRBAG .
-- Remove the two bolts -2- (9 Nm).
Bolts are micro-encapsulated and must be replaced after each loosening.
Before installing the new bolts, the threads of the corresponding nuts must be cleaned.
-- Remove connector coupling of rear side airbag -3- from mount in side upholstery -1-.
-- Remove rear side airbag -3- from side upholstery.
Installation
-- To install, perform the steps used for removal in reverse order.
-- Switch on ignition.
Make sure that no persons are in the vehicle.
-- Connect vehicle battery. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0A4, 02E, 09G, 02Q] [For engine(s) BRM, BGP, BPY, BGQ, CBTA, CBEA, CJAA, CBUA, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .
