Engine Mount, Adjusting

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Engine support bridge 10 - 222 A
• Torque wrench V.A.G 1332

If an insufficient or an excessive distance is measured, proceed as follows:

-- Disconnect the connector -2- on the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor -G70-.

-- Disconnect the ventilation hose -1- and disengage it from the bracket -arrow-.

-- Open the spring-type clip -3- using spring-type clip pliers VAS 5024A and disconnect the intake hose from the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor -G70-.

-- Disconnect the intake manifold -5- from the air guide.

-- Unfasten bolt -4- and remove air filter housing and mass air flow sensor.

-- Remove battery [For transmission(s) 0A4, 02E, 09G, 02Q] Removal and Installation .

-- Remove battery holder bolts -arrows- and holder.

-- Attach the engine support bridge 10-222 A with the frame 10-222 A/8 and adapter 10-222 A/3 and adapter 10-222 A/16in front of the hood gas-filled strut.

-- Hook the carabiner hooks of the spindles into the lifting eyes. Use the adapter 10-222 A/20 on the right side as well.

-- Uniformly preload engine using both spindles, do not raise.

-- Unscrew bolts -arrows- for engine mount at engine mount bracket.

-- Unscrew bolts -arrows- for transmission mount at transmission.

-- Replace all bolts in succession (provided that it was not done during engine installation) and screw them in loosely.

-- Using a pry bar between the engine mount bracket -2- and engine mount -1-, move the engine so far until the following dimensions are set:

• Between engine mount and right longitudinal member, there must be clearance -a- = 10 mm.
• Casting edge on engine mount bracket -2- must stand parallel to engine mount -1-. Dimension -x- must be equal at top and bottom.

-- Tighten bolts for engine mount on engine side ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION MOUNT TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

-- On transmission side, make sure that edges of transmission mount -2- and transmission -1- stand parallel to each other. Dimension -x- must be equal at top and bottom.

-- Tighten bolts for transmission mount on transmission side ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION MOUNT TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .

Assembly is performed in reverse order.
