Left Flange Shaft And Seal

Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required 

• Slide Hammer - Complete Set VW 771
• Additional Part for VW 771 VW 771/37
• Thrust Piece 3305
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) V.A.G 1331
• Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) V.A.G 1332
• Drip Tray for VAS 6100 VAS 6208
• Sealing Grease for Seal G 052 128 A1

Removing 

-- Remove the left wheel.

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .

-- Remove the lower part of the left front wheel housing liner. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Remove the left drive axle. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Place the drip tray under the transmission.

-- Remove the flange shaft bolt. To do this, install two bolts into the flange and counter hold the flange shaft using a pry bar.

-- Remove the flange shaft and the pressure spring.

-- Remove the flange shaft seal.

Installing 

-- Drive in the new seal until seated using the thrust Piece 3305 and without tilting it.

-- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lips half way with sealing grease for Seal G 052 128 A1.

-- Install the flange shaft.

-- Install flange shaft and bolt and tighten the bolt  DIFFERENTIAL to specification.

-- Install the left drive axle. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Install the lower section of the left front wheel housing liner. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Install the wheel. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID, CHECKING .

-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .
