Removal And Installation: Radiator

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Refractometer T10007
• Drip tray VAG 1306 or drip tray for VAS 6100 VAS 6208
• Spring type clip pliers VAS 5024 A
• Cooling system charge unit VAS 6096
• Adapter VAG 1274/8

Removing 

-- Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove the charge air hoses -arrows- from the charge air cooler.

-- Disconnect the coolant hoses from radiator.

-- Bring the lock carrier into the service position. Refer to Description and Operation .

-- For better positioning, place a approximately 80 mm long sleeve, for example, 3353, 3077 or from the VW 540/1A (old tool) at the right and left between the lock carrier and body.

-- Remove the fan shroud with coolant fans. Refer to COOLANT FAN AND COOLANT FAN 2 .

-- Remove the radiator bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the radiator downward.

Installing 

Installation is performed in reverse order. When doing this note the following:

-- When installing a new radiator, the old coolant must not be reused.

-- Fill the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING .
