General Information

CAUTION: Danger of injury! Prior to handling or servicing batteries, read, understand and observe the Warnings and Safety Precautions → Warnings and Safety Precautions  !
CAUTION: In order to prevent damage to the battery or vehicle, observe battery type descriptions and notes → Battery Types .
CAUTION:
  • Risk of explosion during testing, charging or jump starting.
  • Batteries that have a colorless or light yellow "Magic Eye" indicator must not be tested or charged. Jump starting is not permitted! These batteries must be replaced.

The Midtronics Battery Charger INC-940 is the only charger approved for charging batteries in VW vehicles. The use of non-approved battery chargers is not allowed since internal damage may occur.

The INC-940 integrates battery charging with load and conductance testing (referred to here as "Charging and Analysis")

The following charging and analysis procedures apply to all batteries, all battery installation locations (engine compartment or luggage compartment) and battery purpose (starter battery or secondary/accessory battery).

The following charging and analysis procedures account for specific battery type, vehicle model, battery installation location and charging location (either directly at installed battery or removed battery).

Always read, understand and observe the detailed INC-940 safety instructions, charger setup, display menu/buttons, LEDs and operation procedures found in INC-940 Instruction Manual.
