Drive pinion, removing and installing: Notes

NOTE:
To remove the drive pinion the selector shaft must be removed after taking out the parking lock. Refer to Parking lock, disassembling and assembling

1 - Drive pinion
- Number of teeth. Refer to Code letters, application, ratios, equipment
- Adjusting. Refer to Drive pinion, adjusting
- Removing. See Removing drive pinion
2 - Transmission housing
3 - Screw
- 12 Nm
- Remove screw before removing or installing bearing supporting ring (item -13 ).
- Insert with sealing agent AKD 456 000 01
4 - Hex nut
- 250 Nm
- Engage parking lock to remove or install
- Secure with drift
5 - Output gear
- Number of teeth. Refer to Code letters, application, ratios, equipment
- Pulling off. See Pulling off output gear
- If signs of damage exist, always replace input gear and output gear together
6 - Tapered roller bearing inner race
- Pulling off. See Pulling off tapered roller bearing inner race
- Pressing on. See Pressing on tapered roller bearing inner race
7 - Tapered roller bearing outer race
- Drive out with drift
- Pressing in. See Pressing in tapered roller bearing outer race
8 - ATF oil deflector
- Install together with bearing cap (item -10 )
9 - Bolt, 25 Nm
- 25 Nm
10 - Bearing cap
11 - Shim
- Determining thickness. Refer to Drive pinion, adjusting , Adjusting drive pinion
12 - Parking lock gear
- Rounded side faces teeth of drive pinion
13 - Bearing supporting ring
- 200 Nm
- Remove screw (item -3 ) before removing or installing bearing supporting ring.
- Removing or installing. See Removing and installing bearing supporting ring
- Bearing supporting ring cannot be unscrewed until selector shaft has been removed. Refer to Parking lock, disassembling and assembling ; Parking lock, disassembling and assembling
- Insert bearing supporting ring carefully. Sealing lip and spring must not be damaged.

14 - O-ring
- Always replace
- Place onto bearing supporting ring (item -13 )
15 - Oil seal for drive pinion
- Remove with screwdriver
- Installed position. See Bearing supporting ring with seal for drive pinion

16 - Tapered roller bearing outer race
