Accessory Bracket

Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) V.A.G 1331

Removing

-- Drain the coolant. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove the ribbed belt. Refer to RIBBED BELT .

-- Remove the charge air pipe from the noise generator, if equipped. Refer to CHARGE AIR PIPE FROM NOISE GENERATOR .

-- Remove the generator. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Disconnect the connector from the oil pressure switch or from the oil pressure switches.

-- Disconnect the solenoid clutch electrical connector -1- from Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor.

WARNING:

Risk of injury from refrigerant:

Do not open the A/C refrigerant circuit.

-- Remove the A/C compressor bolts -arrows-.

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the refrigerant lines and hoses:

Do not stretch, kink or bend the refrigerant lines and hoses.

-- Tie up the compressor with the refrigerant lines attached to the longitudinal member.

-- Remove the oil dipstick guide tube bolt -arrow-.

-- Remove the bolts -5 through 1- and remove the accessory bracket from the coolant pump housing.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:

NOTE:

Tightening specifications, refer to RIBBED BELT OVERVIEW .

Replace the bolts that have been tightened to a torque angle.

Replace the O-rings and seals.

-- Lubricate the O-rings -4- with coolant.

-- Install the connection -2- into the coolant pump housing -3-.

-- Press the accessory bracket -1- onto the connection, install and tighten the bolts. Refer to Figure.

-- Install the A/C compressor. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Install the generator. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to RIBBED BELT .

-- Fill the coolant. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING .
