Test sequence (vehicles with engine codes BDF and BJS)
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:
Do not use pressurized air for the following test!
- Remove engine cover.
- Disconnect intake air hose between Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and throttle valve control module.
- Disconnect vacuum hose from Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Solenoid Valve -N112- at combination valve (arrow).
- Connect hand vacuum pump (V.A.G 1390) to vacuum connection of combination valve (arrow).
- Disconnect pressure hose to combination valve at coupling (arrow) and blow into it with light pressure.
Combination valve must close.
NOTE:
To disengage, compress the buttons at the hose coupling.
- Operate vacuum pump.
Combination valve must open.
If the combination valve does not open or it is constantly open:
- Replace the combination valve:
- Vehicles with engine code BDF. Refer to Parts of Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system (vehicles with engine code BDF), removing and installing , item 5
- Vehicles with engine code BJS. Refer to Parts of Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system (vehicles with engine code BJS), removing and installing , item 5
- Erase DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM). Refer to Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data
- Generate readiness code. Refer to Readiness code, generating
