Engine codes AEG, AVH, AZG, BBW, BEV 

1 - Radiator 

• Removing and installing. Refer to Radiator, removing and installing 
• After replacement replace entire amount of coolant

2 - O-ring 

• Always replace

3 - Upper coolant hose 

4 - Distributor connection piece 

• Secured to radiator with quick release coupling
• Check for secure seating

5 - Clip 

• Check for secure seating

6 - A/C Cut-Out Thermal Switch -F163- 

• Only applies to models with air conditioning system up to build date 05.99, depending on version.

7 - Coolant hose 

• From cylinder head union

8 - Coolant hose 

9 - Coolant hose 

• To coolant pipe on cylinder block, AEG engine.
• To oil cooler on engines: AVH, AZG, BBW, BEV

10 - Connector 

11 - Cover 

• Check with coolant system tester V.A.G 1274 and adapter V.A.G 1274/9
• Pressure relief valve must open at a pressure of 1.4 to 1.6 bar

12 - 10 Nm 

13 - Expansion tank 

• Perform leak test on coolant system with coolant system tester V.A.G 1274 and adapter V.A.G1274/8
• Test pressure 1.4 to 1.6 bar

14 - Coolant hose 

• From throttle valve control module

15 - Coolant hose 

• To coolant pipe

16 - Air ducting 

17 - Right coolant fan -V35- 

• Only models with optional equipment
• Checking, Engines: AEG, AVH and AZG. Refer to Radiator coolant fan (vehicles with engine codes AEG, AVH and AZG), checking 
• Removing and installing. Refer to Radiator, removing and installing 

18 - Fan ring 

19 - Retaining clip 

• Check seated securely

20 - Coolant fan -V7- 

• Checking. Refer to Radiator coolant fan (vehicles with engine codes AEG, AVH and AZG), checking 
• Removing and installing. Refer to Radiator, removing and installing 

21 - Bracket 

• For coolant fan connector

22 - Lower coolant hose 

• Secured to radiator by quick release coupling
• Check seated securely

23 - Connector 

• For Coolant Fan Control (FC) thermal switch -F18-

24 - Coolant Fan Control (FC) thermal switch -F18-, 35 Nm 

• For Coolant fan -V7- and Right coolant fan -V35-
• Switching temperatures:

1st Speed

• on: 92...97 ° C
• off: 84...91 ° C

2nd Speed

• on: 99...105 ° C
• off: 91...98 ° C
