Sealing flange and flywheel/drive plate, removing and installing: Notes

- The sealing flange - 7 - can be removed and installed with the cylinder head installed.
The following list pertains to Fig 1.
- 100 Nm (74 ft lb) plus additional 1/4 turn (90°)
- Always replace
- Counter-hold with 3273 to loosen and tighten
- Vibration damper
- 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
- Oil seal
- Replacing, see CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL, REPLACING (VIBRATION DAMPER END)
- Sealing flange
- Coat sealing surfaces with AMV 188 001 02 sealant
- Cylinder block
- Removing and installing crankshaft, see CRANKSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Disassembling and assembling pistons and connecting rods, see PISTONS AND CONNECTING RODS, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING .
- Sealing flange
- Coat sealing surfaces with AMV 188 001 02 sealant
- If only the sealing flange has been removed, prepare cylinder head gasket for assembly, See Cylinder Head Gasket
- Sealing flange can be removed and installed with cylinder head installed
- Oil seal
- Remove with tool 2086
- Lightly oil sealing lip
- Install over sleeve 2003/2A
- Pull in up to stop with 2003/3
- Flywheel/drive plate
- To remove and install counter-hold with VW 558
- Removing and installing drive plate, see DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- 60 Nm (44 ft lb) plus additional 1/4 turn (90°)
- Always replace
- 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
- Bracket
- For coolant hose
