Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, erasing (function 05): Requirement:

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 25 other vehicles, including the 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio, 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, and 1999 Volkswagen Golf. After DTC memory has been checked:

NOTE:
  • If the ignition was switched off between checking DTC Memory and erasing DTC Memory, DTC Memory will not be erased.
  • Always adhere strictly to the sequence of operations, i.e. first check DTC Memory.

Indicated on display:

(DTC memory will be erased approx. 5 secs. after display appears.)

DTC memory is now erased.

NOTE: Wait approx.1 minute before again checking DTC Memory.

Print out with printer switched on:

TCM -J217- was not given sufficient time to recognize malfunctions.

When DTC memory is checked, the following display should appear:

"No DTC recognized!"
