Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, erasing (function 05): Requirement:

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 25 other vehicles, including the 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio, 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, and 1999 Volkswagen Golf. DTC memory has been checked, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) MEMORY, CHECKING (FUNCTION 02) .

After DTC memory has been checked:

Press buttons -0- and -5- to select function 05, Erase DTC memory.

Press -Q- button to confirm entry.

NOTE:

If the ignition was switched off between checking DTC Memory and erasing DTC Memory, DTC Memory will not be erased.
Always adhere strictly to the sequence of operations, i.e. first check DTC Memory.

DTC memory is now erased.

NOTE: Wait approx.1 minute before again checking DTC Memory.

TCM -J217- was not given sufficient time to recognize malfunctions.

Wait approx.1 minute before again checking DTC memory.
After checking and erasing DTC memory, test drive vehicle and check DTC memory again.

When DTC memory is checked, the following display should appear:

"No DTC recognized!"
