SHIM THICKNESS (DRIVE PINION PRELOAD)

Dished washer + reading - Bearing preload	2.50 mm (0.098 in.) 0.18 mm (0.0007 in.)
= Thickness of shim	2.32 mm (0.091 in.)

Determine shim from table and install on drive shaft. Table of shims, see ADJUSTMENTS, AFTER COMPONENT REPLACEMENT .
Insert axial needle bearing and tighten fastener including dished washer to 250 N.m (184 ft lb).
NOTE: Insert axial needle bearing for input shaft before tightening fastener. Installation position, see INPUT GEAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

DRIVE PINION FRICTION TORQUE SPECIFICATION

Friction torque

Drive pinion (from measurement)

= 100 Ncm (9 in lb)⁽¹⁾

Input gear (average)

= 200 Ncm (18 in lb)

Friction torque of input gear + drive pinion

= 300 Ncm (27 in lb)

⁽¹⁾	In the case of used bearings, substitute friction measured for the drive pinion.
