Drive pinion

NOTE: To remove drive pinion, remove selector shaft and parking lock, see PARKING LOCK, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING , parking lock, disassembling and assembling.

The following list pertains to Fig 1.

  1. Drive pinion 
  2. Transmission housing 
  3. Screw 
    • 12 N.m (9 ft lb)
    • Remove screw before removing or installing bearing support ring -13-.
    • Install with sealing compound AKD45600001
  4. Hex nut 
    • 250 N.m (184 ft lb)
    • Engage parking lock to remove or install
    • Secure with drift
  5. Output gear 
  6. Tapered roller bearing inner race 
  7. Tapered roller bearing outer race 
  8. ATF oil deflector 
    • Install together with bearing cap -10-.
  9. Bolt 
    • 25 N.m (18 ft lb)
  10. Bearing cap 
  11. Shim 
  12. Parking lock gear 
    • Rounded side faces teeth of drive pinion
  13. Bearing support ring 
  14. O-ring 
    • Always replace
    • Place onto bearing support ring -13-
  15. Oil seal for drive pinion 
  16. Tapered roller bearing outer race 
  17. Tapered roller bearing inner race
