A/C compressor bracket, removing and installing -6-cyl. VR6 (engine code AAA) 08.93 And Up

NOTE:
The A/C compressor mounting bracket can be removed and installed without discharging the A/C system.

- Mounting bracket
- For engines up to 08.93, refer to A/C COMPRESSOR BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING - 6-CYL. VR6 (ENGINE CODE AAA) 08.93
- For Generator (GEN), A/C compressor and power steering pump
Removing:
- Remove A/C compressor -8- from bracket.
- Remove Generator (GEN), see GENERATOR (GEN) WITH RIBBED BELT AND MOUNTING BRACKET, ASSEMBLY .
- Remove power steering pump.
- Remove bracket.
Installing:
- First install bolts -3- and -12-.
- Washer-8.4 x 16 x 1.6
- Bolt-M8 x 28
- 25 N.m (18 ft lb)
- Socket-head bolt-M8 x 30
- 25 N.m (18 ft lb)
- Socket-head bolt-M8 x 30
- 25 N.m (18 ft lb)
- Socket-head bolt-M8 x 38
- 25 N.m (18 ft lb)
- Refrigerant hoses
- A/C compressor
Removing from bracket:
- Remove front bumper.
- For Golf, GTI or Jetta, see FRONT BUMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- For Cabrio, see FRONT BUMPER, SERVICING
- Loosen lock carrier (radiator support) and pull forward.
- Remove headlight housing, see HEADLIGHTS (GOLF, JETTA & CABRIO TO 10.98), SERVICING or HEADLIGHTS AND FRONT TURN SIGNALS, (CABRIO FROM 10.98), SERVICING .
- Remove poly-ribbed belt -9-.
- Remove Generator (GEN), see GENERATOR (GEN) WITH RIBBED BELT AND MOUNTING BRACKET, ASSEMBLY .
- Loosen A/C compressor bolts -10- approx. 2 turns and drive threaded sleeves back from compressor.
- Remove bolts -10- and remove compressor.
- Remove front bumper.
- Poly-ribbed drive belt
