Pedal cluster, servicing: Notes
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 21 other vehicles, including the 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio, 2000 Volkswagen Cabrio, 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, and 1999 Volkswagen Golf. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:
- Do not re-use fasteners that are worn or deformed in normal use.
- Some fasteners are designed to be used only once, and are unreliable and may fail if used a second time. This includes, but is not limited to, nuts, bolts, washers, circlips and cotter pins. Always follow recommendations in this manual-replace these fasteners with new parts where indicated, and any other time it is deemed necessary by inspection.
CAUTION:
Before working on the pedal cluster:
- Obtain the security code for the anti-theft radio.
- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap.
NOTE:
- Lubricate all bearings and friction surfaces with MoS2 grease.
- Before working on the pedal cluster, remove the left storage shelf: see DRIVER'S SIDE STORAGE COMPARTMENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLATING for Golf, GTI or Jetta. For Cabrio see, DRIVER'S SIDE STORAGE COMPARTMENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLATING .
